How do they compare on sound quality?
They are basically similar since they come with similar 2.2Ch 40W with Dolby Atmos.
Buying a TV for its sound quality these days is a terrible idea with so many good external sound bars and other proper audio setups.
After you blow over $1300 for a TV, you may not have any money left over for sound bars, etc… You may have to wait until next year, or you pay that credit card off before you can put another $500 or more on it for sound. So in the mean time for temporary use its good to have at least tolerable sound quality out of the TV for a few months until you can afford to get the rest of the setup.
Those cheap 2.1 computer speaker setups work great since the sub fills in the missing lows. I’ve been using that for years. Problem is a lot of newer TV’s are no longer including a variable level headphone jack output, that these computer speakers would plug into. I use a Logitech 2.1 system and have its bass and volume set halfway, and the headphone jack volume on my TV changes with the TV’s volume (hence the word Variable). So if you want LG TV for the viewing angle (IPS or OLED) and WebOS, you can only get the OLED model since the regular IPS LCD models do not have a headphone jack.
Ofcourse the picture is the thing in TV, but i’m still keen to hear how is it with the sound. The reason is that I already have really heavy high end sound system for home theatre use, so i dont need any soundbars. On the other hand it would be nice to be able to watch news without home theatre, just with tv speakers. Maybe this is not a problem anymore but some years ago the speakers of even high end tv could be unusable to even listen the news/speak.
I have a 65″ B9, and I can tell you that the sound quality is far from “unusable”. I think they sound great, so much so that I haven’t even taken the trouble (in my months of ownership) to connect the TV to the speakers in the ceiling for a surround sound experience. I hope to do so soon, but for the past few months the B9 speakers have definitely impressed, and left me wondering why people buy soundbars with this kind of TV.
